Hello.
Are you sure the images are being loaded from Instagram? Because the module is configured by default to save images to your hosting for 6 hours (360 minutes), or perhaps you set it to 0. After those 360 minutes, it doesn't stop saving; it deletes the existing images, uploads new ones, and caches them. That's how it works.
You can share your link as confidential information so we can verify if it's loading from Instagram or your hosting.
Regards.

Yes, if you've set a cache time, the module downloads the image and creates new ones in the cache, then loads from there.

It's also important that your hosting has the GD library enabled. This library is what creates the images. If your hosting doesn't have this library and you have error notifications disabled, that might be why the module is loading directly from Instagram as if it were the first time.

What time have you set? Remember that the time is in minutes. For example, for one day you should set it to 1440.

Another problem could be cache folder permissions, which should be set to 755. Alternatively, you might have an optimization extension that's clearing the cache, which is why it can't find the image each time it tries to load from the cache and loads from Instagram's CDN.

In a previous response, you mentioned that it works for a few minutes. So, access it via FTP and check if the images are in the cache folder or not.

Hi, we've reviewed the new feed JSON, and it's different when there are reels. Since the media is a video and not an image like in older videos, it's not saved, which is why the thumbnail is loaded from the CDN. We're working on a new version that will work with images, videos, and the new reels.

Regards

I don't see the problem, and it doesn't break any laws because the video isn't loaded or played on your page; they're just links that take you to Instagram, so you're not loading anything from Meta's servers onto your website.

well it does. the video previews (images) are loaded from scontent-dus1-1.cdninstagram. so its external content.
if those images are at my own cache. all good. so i cant let this in page. or i have to ask for permission to load those images.
so its important for gdpr: load ALL preview images, content... via cache from the website.

All thumbnails for images, videos, and reels are cached in local and these thumbnails is linked to Instagram. That's all the module does, so there are no violations.
