How to add menu in left/right position with accordion menu or dropdown sub-menu items?

To have a menu in left/right you have to publish a module of type menu in the left or right positions.

We don't have an accordion menu for left or right, but the native module can be customized using a bit of javascript and css.
There are also accordion-type modules in the Joomla extensions directory, some are free, others are paid, we have taken the time to search and for the demo we can recommend this Expired page link (we haven't tested it)
